NanoLab

Smart design of resonant nanostructures

Photonics is a key enabling technology of the 21st century. Data-based methods play an essential role in the development and application of photonic and quantum technologies. In areas such as sensor technology and quality control, the evaluation of data enables decision-making and quantification processes. In addition to model-based simulations of measurement processes, artificial intelligence (AI) methods are becoming increasingly important here.

The NanoLab is developing methods for efficient, error-controlled and self-adaptive simulation of light-matter interactions in resonant nanostructures. These numerical methods are based on models for mode expansion of observable quantities enforced with AI technology. These methods are further developed in cooperation with industry and application partners and validated for complex applications.
